Chelsea have started negotiations with Brighton and Hove Albion over a deal for striker João Pedro.
That’s according to GE Globo, who report that Chelsea have ‘signalled’ that they would be willing to spend €60m to sign the Brazilian.
They report that Chelsea are already moving to reinforce their team ahead of the Club World Cup and Pedro is at the top of their list. The Blues have reportedly made a striker their number one signing this summer.
They are now trying to speed up negotiations so that they can be concluded before the start of the Club World Cup in the United States. They can use a special transfer window, open from June 1st to June 10th, to make that happen.
Talks between Chelsea and Brighton are expected to intensify next week once the Premier League season has been concluded this weekend. Chelsea are still in the mix to qualify for the Champions League and so are fully focused on that for now.
Brighton have been a target for Chelsea regularly since 2022, with Moises Caicedo, Marc Cucurella and Robert Sanchez all moving in big transfers. The Blues also appointed Graham Potter and several staff members from the Seagulls as well.
How that effects any negotiations for João Pedro remains to be seen, but it is unlikely that Brighton will allow him to leave cheaply or easily.
