Jack Grealish vs Rodrygo
Jack Grealish vs Rodrygo
Mikel Arteta is desperate to sign a new left-winger who can replace Gabriel Martinelli and one of the players the manager should look into is Manchester City’s Jack Grealish.
Jack Grealish has been a major flop at the Etihad Stadium and City are going to offload him for a bargain transfer fee. The winger has hardly played this season but despite that, [several big clubs wish to sign him](source: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/jack-grealish-transfer-next-club-35255581). Along with Arsenal, Milan, Fenerbahce and Al Hilal have all been linked with him.
Manchester City paid around €117.5 million to sign Grealish from Aston Villa but the England international has played in only 157 games for the club since 2021. City know very well they won’t be able to recoup the full transfer fee but they are willing to listen to offers in the region of €50 million.
Jack Grealish or Rodrygo: Who would be a better fit for Arsenal?
Arsenal continue to be linked with Madrid’s Rodrygo as Arteta wants the Brazilian as Martinelli’s long-term replacement. However, the winger is yet to make up his mind and even if he decides to leave, Los Blancos will demand €80 -100 million for him.
It’s not that Arsenal cannot afford to pay such an amount but we think, it will be more feasible if the Gunners tried to sign Jack Grealish.
Grealish has had a woeful campaign with Manchester City but he is still a world-class player and can perfectly fit into Mikel Arteta’s style of football. His best season with City was the 22/23 campaign when he made 16 goal contributions but since then, the 29-year-old has struggled for starts.
There’s a major stats disparity between the two players because while Grealish has made just 8 goal contributions this season, Rodrygo, on the other hand, has made 23 goals contributions in 51 appearances.
Stats(Domestic League 24-25) Jack Grealish Rodrygo

Expected Assists(xA) 2.38 6.37
Goals per 90mins 0.13 0.28
Key Passes 24 43
Minutes Per Assist 714 387
Rodrygo has had a much better goal-scoring record than the England international but there’s no need for Arsenal to spend €80 million on him. Signing a left-winger is not a priority for them and the Gunners should save money in that department and use it to bring in a world-class centre-forward.
Arteta is desperate to add Alexander Isak to his squad and if the Gunners make a move for Jack Grealish they will be able to use the excess funds to pay €150 million for the Newcastle United forward.
Also, Rodrygo has a long list of suitors whom Arsenal have to battle and we don’t think the North London club will be able to compete with teams like Man City, Liverpool and PSG.
Grealish might have been a flop for Man City but the 29-year-old can still light up the Premier League. He, along with Gabriel Martinelli can share the workload perfectly next season and at just €50 million, it won’t burn a hole in the management’s pocket.
