Wolves have several issues to resolve ahead of the summer transfer window, including the future of Nelson Semedo.
It’s been known for a while that Semedo sees his contract expire in 2025, and as one of Wolves‘ current highest earners, negotiating a new deal hasn’t been easy.
Although the Portugal international is 31-years-old, he’s still a vital member of Vitor Pereira’s squad, seeing his responsibility increase as captain.
Pereira wants to keep Semedo at the club, but with the right-back attracting interest from elsewhere, persuading him to stay has proven difficult.
Now, with the 2024/25 campaign drawing to a close, clear insight has been shared on how he’s currently feeling ahead of a huge decision.

Fresh details of Nelson Semedo’s contract offer emerge
On Thursday, it was revealed on social media that Semedo had recorded his goodbye video to Wolves in preparation for his expected departure.
Supporters were left feeling sad after seeing the image, comparing it to when Ruben Neves said his farewell to the club, but in a surprise turn of events, Express & Star journalist Liam Keen revealed that Semedo has been offered a four-year contract.
🚨EXCL: Nelson Semedo has a 4-year contract on the table from Wolves and is yet to make a decision on his future. Goodbye video recorded IF he decides to leave, which is currently uncertain. More details: #wwfc https://t.co/5sMFr4DDGR

For one of the squad’s highest earners who turns 32 in November, this seems like a ludicrous contract to offer, and Keen has shared a ‘new detail’ on the E&S podcast.

“That’s the slightly new detail that people won’t be aware of. It was made slightly earlier this month, that offer. And because of that, the player is now considering it, and he’s assessing his options and thinking, right, I’ve got a chance to stay at the club, I’ve got a chance to go, I’m going to take my time and think about it.”
Keen also explained how Wolves are willing to give him time to make his decision, as it’s undoubtedly a huge one, given what he has done for the club.
“Very selfless, very good professional, good trainer, someone that’s looked after other players in the squad,” he said. “So there’s a lot of respect there. And I think they wanted to allow him a time, a chance to look around, but also try and convince him to stay at the same time.”
Semedo can become a Wolves legend by retiring at Molineux
Semedo has been at Molineux since joining in a mega-money deal from Barcelona in 2020. The attacking right-back struggled at first, but he’s now one of Pereira’s most invaluable players, which explains why he wants to give him a new contract.
A four-year deal seems a bit crazy for someone of his age but it also shows how desperate they are to keep him.

Appearances – 181
Goals – 3
Assists – 11
Realistically, with other teams from Saudi Arabia, the United States and Portugal looking to prise him away, Semedo has to choose between two options.
Either leave the club to be paid mega money elsewhere, just like Neves did in 2023, or stay at Wolves and become a legend of the club.
If he does remain in Wolverhampton and stays until 2029, he will have been at Molineux for nine years, giving him a huge chance to cement his place in the history books.
