“A lion can slip but never fall” – Brother defends Manchester United player after EL final defeat to Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are currently just above the relegation zone and have won 11 and 10 Premier League games respectively this season.

Two days ago, Tottenham defeated Manchester United in the Europa League final, and this sees them qualify for the Champions League.

Brennan Johnson’s goal, which was actually scored by Luke Shaw, in the 42nd minute at San Mamés was the difference between the Red Devils and Tottenham. The latest defeat for Manchester United also means they will miss out on Europe entirely next season.

André Onana’s brother, Christian Onana, has now come out in defence of the Cameroon international after Manchester United’s defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League. The goalkeeper’s brother has been speaking to Vision 4 and Le Bled Parle have relayed his comments.

André’s performances for Manchester United have been mixed since joining from Inter Milan in 2023, and he didn’t exactly cover himself in glory with his attempt to save Tottenham’s goal.

The 29-year-old earlier had a feud with Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto’o. After Ruben Amorim’s side lost to Spurs, Le Bled Parle point out Eto’o’s supporters asked André to apologise to the former Indomitable Lions striker.

Christian believes this won’t impact his brother’s status.

“It doesn’t change his status as a great player. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and what’s more, he’s an Indomitable Lion. A lion can slip, but he never falls,” he said.
