Danilo is the latest Nottingham Forest star to delve into his journey to The City Ground in the final edition of Reds’ Roots this season.

The Brazilian midfielder’s interview features in full in Sunday’s Forest Review, the final matchday publication of the campaign.

Forest Review will be available around The City Ground in all the usual places. For those unable to pick up their copy from the stadium, Forest Review can be purchased online via ACA Creative here.

Danilo suffered an injury on the opening weekend of the season and discusses his journey back to the pitch.

“It was really sad. I know I’m still young, but I’d never had such a good, rewarding pre-season with Forest. I was prepared, focused, and meeting all my goals on the checklist and on the pitch as well. Then unfortunately the injury came, it was really sad for me. I knew it was going to be a wonderful season for us, because of the pre-season we’d had. I was really driven to help my club and teammates to get to where we are.

“Thank God I was able to recover with the support of the fans. I watched all the games and they were always singing my song, especially in the game right after my injury, the fans were all singing my name. The help of my teammates, the staff at the club, my friends and family all helped me come back as soon as possible.”

The Brazilian was sidelined until January, making his return in the Emirates FA Cup game against Luton Town at The City Ground.

“Coming back in the game against Luton was an emotional experience, seeing the reaction in the stadium everyone on their feet applauding and singing my song. This makes it all the more joyful to step on to the pitch and run for the fans and my teammates. For this final stage of the season, I hope I can be present to help my teammates and our wonderful fans to achieve something special.”

Forest have surprised many the season, but internally there has always been a feeling that the Club was on the right path.

“It’s been spoken about before and I repeat myself, but our pre-season was perfect, everyone was fit and focussed. We are happy with what we have achieved, we’ve been fighting from the very start. Every game has been like a final in the run-in, I hope we can keep up our good form and continue winning.”
