**Newcastle United don't seem to like to give up when they set their sights on a player, as we often see the same names appear in transfer stories around each window.**
Marc Guehi is still being touted as a target for Newcastle despite the disastrous dealings with Crystal Palace last year.
Likewise, another player linked with a move to Tyneside last year is back in the frame, according to [The Boot Room's Graeme Bailey.](https://tbrfootball.com/newcastle-in-contact-to-sign-25m-defender-who-eddie-howe-has-already-called-very-good/)
Newcastle were heavily linked to AC Milan's German centre-back Malick Thiaw last summer before all the focus shifted to Marc Guehi.

Malick Thiaw is back on the Magpies' radar
Newcastle have made contact with AC Milan over Malick Thiaw
-----------------------------------------------------------
Now, Bailey claims that Newcastle are one of several clubs in contact over a move for the 23-year-old.
Some reports last year even claimed that a deal between Newcastle and AC Milan for Thiaw was practically done before the Italian side opted to keep hold of him.
Those claims were later played down, but other than the Marc Guehi saga, it was about as close as we got to a positive transfer story.
Marc Guehi is still Newcastle's priority but we'd have Malick Thiaw or Fikayo Tomori
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Malick Thiaw and his teammate Fikayo Tomori are both coveted by Newcastle, and we wouldn't be shocked to see the Magpies move for at least one of the two this summer.
We'd happily take either, as both have bags of experience while still having plenty of years ahead of them.
We still expect that Guehi is the priority as Eddie Howe sees him as the one who ticks all the boxes, but Thiaw and Tomori aren't bad backups to have should the Guehi deal not materialise.
