Manchester United are at one of their lowest points in recent time, set to have their worst Premier League finish of all time and missing out on European football next season.
This would be bad enough, but years of financial mismanagement under The Glazers has now led to the club’s financial pressures being unavoidable, causing Sir Jim Ratcliffe to tighten the club’s purse strings.
With United set to miss out on £140 million in revenue that would have come with winning the Europa League, the club are having to refocus their efforts in the transfer market to a more realistic set of targets.
However, Manchester World has reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been clear in his expectations for next season’s Premier League campaign.
With no European football, United will be solely focused on the Premier League as well as the domestic cups with the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
As such, Ratcliffe is demanding a top six finish for United in their first full season under Ruben Amorim.
Whilst there will be less pressure on The Red Devils without European football, and as such fewer matches meaning less fatigue and less risk of injuries which have plagued the club in recent years, the reduced funding could still be a big issue.
