Man Utd 'to hold showdown transfer talks' after Ruben Amorim leaves player fuming

Manchester United will hold showdown talks with Alejandro Garnacho after his relationship with Ruben Amorim reached breaking point at the Europa League final, according to reports. Garnacho is said to be increasingly likely to leave Old Trafford this summer after receiving a limited role in the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

The 20-year-old winger has registered 11 goals and 10 assists in 58 appearances this season, making it his best since graduating from United's academy in 2022. However, Amorim only called on him in the 71st minute at the San Mames Stadium when United trailed with little sign of a reply since late in the first half. After full-time, Garnacho expressed frustrations over the treatment and sparked speculation surrounding his future.

"Obviously, it's hard for everyone. Our season was s***. We didn't beat anyone in the league. We lacked a lot of things. When you don't score goals, you always need more," he bemoaned in Bilbao.

"Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today - I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next."

According to ESPN, United and Garnacho's representatives are set to meet in the coming days to discuss a potential summer exit.

Garnacho is said to be unhappy with his role in general since Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag, the coach who oversaw his breakthrough.
