Real Madrid have finally announced that Carlo Ancelotti will leave the club at the end of the season. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced earlier this month that Ancelotti has agreed to take charge of the national side from May 26.

And now in a statement released on Friday morning, Real confirmed that Ancelotti will be leaving the club following this weekend's final game of the LaLiga season at home to Real Sociedad. Ancelotti has won 15 trophies across two spells as Real manager, including the Champions League and La Liga titles last season; however, his position has come under growing pressure, with the club ending the current campaign without a major trophy for the first time since 2021.

"Real Madrid C. F. and Carlo Ancelotti have reached an agreement to end his time as Real Madrid coach," a club statement read.

“Our club would like to express its gratitude and affection to one of the great legends of Real Madrid and world football.

"Carlo Ancelotti has led our team through one of the most successful periods in our 123 years of existence and has become the coach with the most titles in our history: Three European Cups, three Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, two leagues, two Copa del Reys and two Spanish Super Cups. In total, 15 titles during the six seasons in which he has belonged to our club."

In the statement confirming Ancelotti’s exit, Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, said: “Carlo Ancelotti is now forever part of the great Real Madrid family.

"We are proud to have enjoyed a coach who has helped us achieve so much success and who has also represented the values of our club in an exemplary manner.”

Xabi Alonso will replace Ancelotti and he is expected to be joined in the Spanish capital by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who confirmed earlier this month he will leave Liverpool this summer.

The LaLiga giants failed in a bid to sign the England international for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.

And following confirmation from Alexander-Arnold last month that he will depart Anfield when his contract expires, Real made an initial approach to Liverpool over signing him in time for the Club World Cup.

The 26-year-old's Anfield deal expires officially on June 30, but the Spanish club would like to have him in the squad for the summer tournament in the United States. They have group games on June 18, 22 and 26.
