Trump Joins Tebow With Playful Poke At Jets

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow accompanied the Florida men's basketball team at the White House on Wednesday as the Gators received recognition for their 2025 National Championship.

Tebow is widely regarded as one of the best athletes to ever play at the University of Florida. Tebow won two National Championships on the gridiron, including winning a Heisman Trophy as a sophomore.

Tebow finished his Gators career with 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns with a 66.4 percent completion rate. His 88 touchdowns are the sixth most in the SEC since 1956. Tebow was also proficient on the ground, rushing for 2,947 yards and an additional 57 touchdowns.

On Wednesday, Tebow simply served as a punchline setup for the New York Jets. When President Donald Trump called Tebow up to the stage to recognize him for a great football career, the Jets took a stray.

"You did damn well in the pros, despite being on the Jets," President Trump said.

Tebow's Jets career lasted just one season, appearing in 12 games in 2012, throwing for 39 yards and rushing for 102.

Tebow's signature moment in the pros came the year prior, in the 2011 NFL Playoffs, when he led the Denver Broncos to an overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, including connecting with Demaryius Thomas for a walk-off touchdown. Tebow finished the game with 316 yards and two touchdowns, despite completing just 10 of his 21 pass attempts. Tebow also picked up 50 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

"He goes down as one of the greatest college football players," President Trump said. "We can only base that on results, right, Tim?"

The Gators' championship ceremony wasn't the only stop Tebow made in Washington. Tebow also appeared before Congress to co-sponsor his new legislation, the Renewed Hope Act.

The Renewed Hope Act is a legislative effort designed to bolster the government's approach to fighting online child sexual exploitation, including equipping the Department of Homeland Security with more tools and staff for detecting, rescuing and supporting victims of child sexual abuse and child sexual abuse material.
