"Talks already underway" for £60m star that is "willing to leave Liverpool"

Barcelona are “going all out for” Luis Diaz and are now stepping up their interest in the Liverpool forward.

The Colombian has been a stellar player for the Reds and while some fans have failed to appreciate how good he has been out of position this season, it does seem as though he may leave this summer.

In his three years at the club, Liverpool have won the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup twice and now, he has a Premier League winner’s medal to cap off a terrific spell in England.

In that time, he scored 41 goals and assisted 23 goals. While not a truly prolific player, Diaz is so much more than just goal contributions.

Under Klopp, he showcased his incredible work ethic and nearly won a quadruple in his first half season at the club.

While I am partial to renewing his deal for a couple years, if Liverpool can extract a significant fee from Barcelona for his services, it would be an excellent conclusion to his time at Anfield.

Barcelona now accelerating plans to sign Luis Diaz

With the summer transfer window set to open soon, the big clubs around Europe have all snapped into action.

According to a report from journalist Uriel Lugt, Barcelona are already in discussions with Diaz with “the coming days” said to be key to understanding if a deal to sign him will be possible.

Lugt reports: “Barcelona is going all out for Luis Díaz.

“There are already talks between the parties, and in the coming days, they will see if it’s possible to move forward with negotiations.

“The discussions are ongoing, and the interest is serious. The footballer is willing to leave Liverpool.”

Is it wise to sell Diaz?

Liverpool are heading into a pivotal transfer window and while they have earned a fair amount of breathing room by winning the Premier League title in Diaz’s first season, selling him may be an unnecesary risk.

Given Liverpool are already saying farewell to Darwin Nunez and potentially Diogo Jota if an appropriate offer is received, losing Diaz – a player well-suited to Slot’s system – may be unwise.

Of course, if Liverpool are going to sign a top centre-forward like Gyokeres, Sesko or (we can dream) Isak, it would be alright but Slot will need strong depth in attack to challenge on all fronts.

Liverpool should really only sell if they are going to be able to convince Barcelona to part ways with a huge fee.
