Liverpool will finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy after Sunday's game against Crystal Palace at Anfield. The Reds secured a second league title in five years with a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Virgil van Dijk will be presented with the trophy by the legendary Alan Hansen, who was the last Liverpool captain to lift a league title in front of supporters at Anfield - more than 30 years ago.

But you already knew that, didn't you? Here, the ECHO looks at some of the Liverpool news you might've missed.

Bayern Munich 'fear' Liverpool

Bayern Munich reportedly "fear" Liverpool in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen and Germany sensation Florian Wirtz.

Earlier this month, the ECHO reported that the Reds were admirers of the Leverkusen star and were keeping tabs on his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

But despite Liverpool's interest in the player, it was expected that he would remain in Germany, with either Leverkusen or Bayern Munich, this summer.

However, BILD reporter Christian Falk has now claimed Bayern are starting to fear Liverpool's presence in the race for Wirtz's signature.

Speaking to CF Bayern Insider, Falk said: “Bayern Munich still believe they have the Wirtz family’s word that he will join Bayern in 2025 or 2026.

“But now, there is a bit of fear inside the club around Liverpool, because they didn’t think that the Reds would commit to the transfer fee, as it’s a lot of money. They had an idea a couple of summers ago for Moises Caicedo (with a £111m bid), but this didn’t work out.

“We heard that Florian was already househunting in Liverpool. The family is playing this transfer game quite openly; they’re telling Bayern what they’re doing with Liverpool, and they’re telling Liverpool what they’re doing with Bayern Munich.”

Liverpool make surprise scouting 'appointment'

Former Liverpool winger Stewart Downing has re-joined the club as a global talent scout.

The 40-year-old spent two years at Anfield after joining the Reds in a £20m deal from Aston Villa in 2011.

After leaving the club in 2013 to join West Ham United, Downing spent time at Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers before hanging his boots up at the end of the 20-21 season.

Now, the former England international has made the next step in his post-playing career by joining the Reds' scouting team, according to The Northern ECHO.
