Newcastle are likely to prioritise moves for a right winger, centre-back, striker and goalkeeper this summer.
However, one area of the pitch that’s currently strong but could come into focus is in midfield, with Sean Longstaff tipped to depart as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.
It may seem like a low-priority position at this point, but Newcastle should be planning for all eventualities and it seems w are, with a new name linked with a potential move should Longstaff depart this summer.
Newcastle United are thought to be taking a close look at Coventry’s Jack Rudoni.
As revealed by Craig Hope at [The Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-14739255/Newcastle-Isak-stadium-transfers-Delap.html) in his latest Confidential column, he has it on good authority that Newcastle scouts have been watching a number of Sky Blues games this season to check out the 23-year-old midfielder.
Rudoni joined in a £5m switch from Huddersfield last year and has taken his game to new heights under Frank Lampard, scoring 10 and assisting 13 to help Coventry seal a top-six finish.
The 6ft 3′ talent scored in a recent play-off semi-final against Sunderland, where Newcastle scouts were present, and has shown his versatility this season, operating as a No 10 or in a deeper role.
Rudoni has drawn comparisons to current boss Lampard for his box-crashing ability and Hope’s sources believe he has what it takes to play in the Premier League, suggesting Newcastle have checked him out as a low-cost option should Longstaff leave.
Not only is his contract expiring in 12 months time, it feels like Longstaff’s days of regular starts on Tyneside are behind him.
With Tonali, Bruno and Joelinton all ahead of him in the pecking order along with Lewis Miley, it feels like the right time for him to go.
For all parties it could make sense. We land a fee rather than lose him on a free next summer and the 27-year-old gets the game time he deserves, having established himself as a solid Premier League midfielder over the past few years.
