Liverpool winning the battle with Bayern Munich for Florian Wirtz could be bad news for Brighton and Hove Albion, as the German giants will then target Kaoru Mitoma.
That’s [according to Sky Germany](https://sport.sky.de/transfer/news/34132/13373238/neuer-name-auf-bayern-liste?wkz=WXTNL1), who report that Bayern are looking at the Brighton star, but it will depend on whether they beat Liverpool to Wirtz first.
They state that the 28-year-old is a candidate for the left-wing, with Bayern looking at him as a replacement if Leroy Sane or Kingsley Coman were to depart.
“An exciting name that Bayern have had their eye on for some time,” said journalist Florian Plettenberg.
“It’s fitting that Bayern have recently invested less in Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens. Like Mitoma, they would be players for the left wing.
“A lot depends on this transfer (Wirtz). Nevertheless, sporting director Max Eberl is very active in the market and, together with sporting director Christoph Freund, is examining various profiles, including for other positions. We are already working on further details on Mitoma.”
Bayern are currently locked into a battle with Liverpool for Wirtz at this moment in time. The German midfielder is believed to have recently travelled to Merseyside to meet the club, visit the club’s facilities and even look at houses.
A report today stated that Bayern are concerned by those developments and now planning their own meetings with the Leverkusen star to discuss a transfer face to face.
Any move for Mitoma seemingly depends on how that goes, but he won’t be easy to get him out of Brighton either. They already rejected a €90m offer from Al-Nassr in the January transfer window and won’t sell cheap.
For now, it appears he’s just an idea, dependent on other factors first, but Liverpool winning the battle for Wirtz could mean bad news for Brighton this summer.
