Ruben Amorim assistant sends defiant message from Man Utd dressing room, 'we failed...'

The heartbreak experienced after the Europa League final will drag on, but Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Fernandes is focused on making improvements for the future.

Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday night as the Red Devils threw away the chance to secure a place in the Champions League for next season.

As a result, the Red Devils won’t have any European football next season, which sadly means fewer trips for United fans who travel far and wide to follow their beloved team.

Thousands of fans made the equally expensive and difficult trip to Bilbao this week, only to see a game settled by a Brennan Johnson goal after 42 minutes. There was no response from United so Tottenham ended their 17-year trophy drought.

With one game left to play in the Premier League, it’s almost time for Amorim and his coaching staff to go away and assess the entire season, make decisions, and plan for the future.

Manchester United’s failure hurts Carlos Fernandes

The mood is very low at Old Trafford following the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham.

Manchester United were unbeaten in Europe going into the final but suffered defeat against Premier League opposition, after losing 18 games in the league this season.

Ruben Amorim’s assistant coach, Carlos Fernandes, has sent a defiant message to fans via Instagram.

Fernandes wrote: “We failed where it hurts the most, and the responsibility is ours.

“Thanks to the players who gave everything to make the outcome different. Thank you to everyone who supported us through our most difficult times and to those who sent me messages of support throughout yesterday [Wednesday] and today.

“If friends are the family you choose, then I’m lucky. I was chosen by amazing people and I have the best family ever.

“People who made an enormous effort to be by my side on one of the most important days of my life: Spending days on vacation, travelling straight at night out, driving 20 hours in less than two days or crossing half of Europe by plane alone with cancelled flights… My eternal and heartfelt thanks, you are the highlight of my day.

“Now… It’s time to reflect, learn, improve and do everything to come back… We’re still together.”

United must remain together to bounce back next season. There will be increased pressure on Amorim to get results in the Premier League.

Manchester United should take inspiration from Luke Littler

Thursday was another memorable night for United fan and darts sensation Luke Littler after recording a record sixth Premier League night win.

A 6-3 victory over Leeds fan Luke Humphries means Littler finishes the season with more points than his beloved football club.

The darts world champion, 18, finished top of the table, with a points tally of 45, which is six more than the 39 Amorim’s United have managed this year.

United can only reach a maximum of 42 points if they beat Aston Villa in the final game of the season on Sunday.
