Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has revealed he is yet to discuss his future with the club’s hierarchy, as the Dutchman’s tenure remains up in the air.
The Foxes round off a miserable top-flight campaign away at Bournemouth this weekend, before preparations begin for their return to the Championship and how they will attack the division to try and get straight back to the big time.
With Leicester’s fate in the Premier League sealed towards the end of April, speculation has continued to fuel over who will be in charge of the East Midlands outfit when their first ball is kicked back in the second tier.
Previous rumours have circulated about Van Nistelrooy leaving the club at the end of the season, with Football Insider claiming former Southampton manager Russell Martin is in advanced talks to replace the former Manchester United legend.

But in a twist of events, Van Nistelrooy has claimed that he hasn’t been spoken to about a potential change of manager, as he conducted his pre-match press conference ahead of their clash at the Vitality Stadium.

As reported by Sky Sports, Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed he is yet to hold discussions over his long-term future at the King Power Stadium and welcomed the chat so supporters have clarity over the club moving forward.
Van Nistelrooy said: “It’s good to have a conversation about it, I’ve had it internally. It’s good to come together in that sense if that’s what they want, and we can find out.
“There haven’t been any other conversations.”
Asked about the media coverage, Van Nistelrooy added: “I read them, and I go back to my job because that’s what I’m here for, that’s what my responsibility is, that’s what my drive is to prepare the game for Sunday with the players.
“We all find out, hopefully sooner rather than later, and again not for me personally, but I think it’s important for the club and the supporters that it’s going to be clear what the strategy will be, the plans and how to attack next season. Obviously it’s a big one.”

While it is normal for discussions to proceed after the conclusion of a season, Leicester could have acted a lot earlier once their relegation was confirmed and communicated that they wanted a change of manager.
It remains to be seen whether, deep down, they think Ruud van Nistelrooy can lead the club back up to the Premier League, and question marks will be raised given they haven’t been able to make a decision so far.

Leicester City youngster Lorenz Hutchinson is on the radar of Nottingham Forest and other Premier League clubs.
It would be another gamble to keep the Dutchman on with no prior experience of managing in the Championship, but a move for someone of Russell Martin’s ilk seems a lot more appealing given his achievements last season with Southampton.
There are a lot of crossed wires over the situation as it stands, and Leicester need to resolve matters quickly so they can plan ahead for next season in plenty of time.
