Gary Neville tells Man Utd to ‘wipe out’ key Man Utd players after Luke Shaw’s EL final…

Gary Neville has fired criticism towards Manchester United defender Luke Shaw following his emotional interview after the Europa League final defeat against Tottenham on Wednesday night. The Red Devils put in a shameful performance in Bilbao, which has meant they will not be competing in Europe next season and caps off what has arguably been their worst season since they were relegated in 1974.

Shaw claimed that the players in the United squad had to question whether or not they are good enough to play for the club after what he described as an 'unacceptable' season. However, Neville has brutally slammed the England international's comments and called out anyone who shares a similar view.

What Happened to ‘Brutal’ Manager Gary Neville Wanted at Man Utd to Replace Rangnick

Some fans still believe the coach could do a job at Old Trafford.

The former United captain believes players who think like that should be sold

Speaking on the latest edition of the 'It's Called Soccer' podcast, Neville went on a tirade about all things United, before turning his attention to Shaw's post-match interview. The former Red Devils captain explained that it wasn't up to Shaw or any player to decide who was good enough to play at Old Trafford, and claimed that anyone who thought like that, including Shaw himself, should be "wiped out" of the club.

"I want to point towards Luke Shaw's interview because I thought that was equally as telling. One, Luke, it's not your job to determine that. A player at Manchester United should have no control as to whether they are there or not. The manager of that football club decides whether or not you're good enough to play in that football team.

"When the players are coming out and starting to question publicly whether they are good enough to play for the club, you know how bad it is internally. Imagine what they are saying to each other inside. Honestly, I think you've got to wipe it out. You've got to wipe out every single player in that dressing room that doesn't have total and utter confidence to play for that football club."

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim on the touchline

Neville also commented on Ruben Amorim's comments after the game where he stated that if the board and fans didn't believe in him that he would leave the club without asking for compensation. Responding to the 40-year-old's statement, the pundit ciriticsed the Portuguese coach for offering himself up for the poor form, warning it could eventually lead to his sacking.

"Ruben Amorim is so honest in his press conferences to a point of fault actually," the 50-year-old claimed. "How can we sit here and say to a manager 'don't be as honest'? I think he's fantastic. He basically says what we are all thinking.

"However, don't offer yourself up. Don't offer yourself up ever. He's very young, he's saying the admirable thing. Ruben, you've been there six months. Don't offer yourself up, just tell us how you're going to drive a bus through that dressing room and tell us how you're going to fix it."
