Four Arsenal stars have been named in England’s senior and under-21 men’s squads for upcoming fixtures and training camps in June. There was also one notable omission from the senior squad that Thomas Tuchel has explained.
Four Arsenal Players Called Up to England Squads for June
---------------------------------------------------------
### Three Gunners Picked in Tuchel’s England Men’s Squad
There were two familiar faces in the latest England squad, with Declan Rice and Myles Lewis-Skelly called up by Tuchel for a second consecutive time.
Rice has 64 caps for England, scoring five goals.
Meanwhile, Lewis-Skelly has already made two senior England appearances by the age of 18, with his very first cap coming under Tuchel as England manager.
Asked if there was a concern about England’s left side, Tuchel [replied](https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/england-squad-announcement-thomas-tuchel-world-cup-qualifiers-live-b2756219.html): “Not a concern because we love Myles Lewis-Skelly.”
The third Arsenal star to be selected by Tuchel was Bukayo Saka. He hasn’t played for Tuchel’s England yet as he was injured at the time of the last selection.
Saka is already a well-loved England star with 43 caps and 12 goals. Despite an injury-hit season, he still has scored 12 goals and notched 14 assists in all competitions for Arsenal.
### Ethan Nwaneri Makes England Under-21 Training Squad
A fourth Gunner is preparing for international duty for England in June. Ethan Nwaneri has made Lee Carsley’s pre-Euro under-21 squad. The Arsenal forward has already has two England under-21 caps as well as 43 other appearances for England from under-16 to under-19 level.
Nwaneri made his breakthrough season at Arsenal this year, making 25 Premier League appearances and scoring four goals. He was a key part of the squad, helping to deputise after the multiple injuries to various Gunners attackers, including Bukayo Saka.
The final England under-21 squad will be announced on June 6, with England kicking off at the UEFA under-21 Euro on 12 June against Czechia.
### Ben White England Squad Omission Explained
With Ben White’s recent return from injury, some fans may have been surprised not to see him selected for England.
But as Tuchel reveals, there are two reasons why the Arsenal star will not feature in this latest England squad.
Tuchel said: “He was involved in the latest matches of Arsenal but we had a talk and decided now is not the moment because he will become a father very soon, the baby is due right on the exact date of the camp. It is his first child and we wish him and his wife all the best.
“We thought if he comes back it should be with a clear mind and full focus on football which is now not the case. We decided together this is not the camp for him to come back.
“The second reason is although he played lately I think he can still have 10-15% increase in the physical ability. Given all the circumstances we decided that he is not with us.”
Afterwards, Tuchel did clarify that the main reason was ‘because of family’ and less to do with his return to full match fitness.
