Ruben Amorim continues to keep one eye on Manchester United’s next generation, even as he prepares for a critical summer in the transfer market.
With the club working to rebuild its identity, investment in youth development has remained a consistent priority at Carrington.
Several young players have already made the step up under Amorim’s guidance, with Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass both gaining first-team exposure this season.

The manager’s commitment to giving academy talent a clear pathway is seen as a crucial part of United’s long-term vision.
Now, one of the club’s most promising midfielders is set to take the next step in his development on the international stage.
Sekou Kone, a 19-year-old midfielder who joined United from Guidars FC in Mali last August, has been called up to represent Mali at the prestigious Maurice Revello Tournament in France.
The competition, formerly known as the Toulon Tournament, features eight national teams and is regarded as one of the most important showcases for emerging international talent.

Sekou Kone, who has impressed in Travis Binnion’s Under-21 side and featured in the UEFA Youth League, has also made the Premier League bench three times under Amorim.
His inclusion in Mali’s 23-man squad makes him one of eight players selected from the team that reached third place at the last U-17 World Cup.
Mali are scheduled to face Panama on 3 June, hosts France on 6 June, and Saudi Arabia on 9 June in the group stage of the tournament.
United fans will be hoping Kone can follow in the footsteps of club stars who’ve previously shone at this event, including Bruno Fernandes, who featured for Portugal in 2014, and Alejandro Garnacho, who won ‘Revelation of the Tournament’ in 2022.
Brazilian winger Antony, currently on loan at Real Betis, also lifted the trophy with Brazil in 2019.
The tournament has a rich history with past United legends such as David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Fabien Barthez among its alumni.
Now, Kone will aim to make his mark on the same stage—and continue the legacy of Reds who used the tournament as a springboard to stardom.
