United win Manchester Derby at World Sevens

Manchester United beat Manchester City in the [World Sevens Football](https://womenfootball.blog/world-sevens-tournament-information-teams-and-where-to-watch/) semi-final, setting up a final showdown with Bayern Munich at 20:00 UK time today. City had opened the tournament with an impressive win over FC Rosengård but couldn’t replicate that form against United, falling 2–0. Nick Cushing’s side will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the third-place playoff.

The first big chance fell to Manchester United, as Leah Galton fired just wide on goal. The Red Devils do find the net a minute later, thanks to Malard with a stunning strike in the top corner. They nearly doubled the lead but Keating made a vital save, denying Terland.

Manchester City struggled to get of their own half in the first ten minutes and could not level before the break. Manchester United did very well in stopping their attacks and keeping key players such as Fujino, Park and Kerolin locked up.

Despite a strong start to the tournament with a 4–0 win over FC Rosengård, Manchester City couldn’t find their form against Manchester United. With 15 minutes left to get on the scoresheet, City showed little improvement in their second-half performance.

It was mostly United in control, pushing to double their lead. Clinton came close in the 24th minute, striking the crossbar. Just 30 seconds later, Gabby George made it 2–0, beating Layzell and squeezing the ball between Keating and the near post.
