Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow was at the White House on Wednesday with the Florida men’s basketball as the Gators celebrated their 2025 National Championship.
President Donald Trump called Tebow up to recognize the Florida alum for his pro football career — which included one year on the Jets. Trump used the opportunity to shade the oft-joked about football team.
“NFL legend and University of Florida, one of the greatest I’ve ever seen. I’ll tell you what, as a college player, maybe the best ever. And you did damn well in the pros, despite being on the Jets, you did damn well,” Trump said.
In one year with the Jets in 2012, Tebow appeared in 12 games and threw for 39 yards with no touchdowns. He added another 102 yards rushing.
Tebow was a first-round pick of the Broncos in 2010 and spent two years in Denver. He was traded to the Jets when the Broncos signed Peyton Manning and he spent the final season of his three-year NFL career in New York.
