Manchester United and England legend David Beckham has now admitted that there is one claim that he would “love” to make about the Premier League club.
David Beckham had a prolific playing career at Old Trafford after his remarkable rise through the ranks of the Manchester United youth academy in the 1990s.
One of United’s ‘Class of ‘92’ success stories, the 50-year-old ex-England captain broke into the United first team under legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Beckham saw Sir Alex Ferguson as a ‘father figure’ and the former United winger shot to superstardom during his illustrious spell at the Premier League side.
The United legend, who retired from football in 2013, made 394 first-team appearances for the Red Devils and scored 85 times and registered 121 assists.
Beckham was a key part of Ferguson’s treble-winning United side in the 1998-99 campaign and the ex-player enjoyed incredible silverware success at Old Trafford.
During his time under iconic former United manager Ferguson, Beckham lifted six Premier League titles, a Champions League trophy and two FA Cups at United.
Beckham’s relationship infamously fractured with Ferguson at Old Trafford and the former United superstar was sold to Real Madrid in 2003 for a fee of £24.5m.

David Beckham’s spine-tingling ambition at Old Trafford would be something that Man Utd fans would embrace
David Beckham lifted a La Liga title with Real Madrid before the Manchester United legend later played for LA Galaxy, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in his career.
The England legend has found success away from the football pitch as a business figure, including becoming the co-owner and president of MLS outfit Inter Miami.
David Beckham also linked up with fellow United legend Gary Neville in May and led a consortium to complete a full takeover of League Two outfit Salford City.
United fans have been vocal about their dissent towards the controversial ownership of the Premier League club by the Glazers after their notorious takeover in 2005.
Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe became a co-owner of United in 2023, but the presence of the Glazer family and their reluctance to outright sell the club has been criticised.
Beckham admitted that he would “love” to make the claim that he owns United “one day” and opened up about his incredible admiration for the Premier League club.
Speaking to Time magazine, he said: “I’d love to say that I own Manchester United one day.
“It’s always been my team, it will always be my team, and I care deeply about Manchester United.”

Would David Beckham consider buying Man Utd outright amid the reign of the Glazers and Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe?
Beckham has spoken out on Sir Jim Ratcliffe after Ineos took control of football operations at United as part of the 72-year-old’s minority stake purchase in 2023.
The Glazers had hinted that a full sale of United could happen in the past, but the decision to sell the Premier League club failed to materialise.
Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim had been linked with purchasing the Red Devils in the past and he had tabled a £5bn bid in 2023 before withdrawing from the talks.
Time cited that Forbes valued United at around an eye-watering $6.55bn and Beckham ruled out buying the Red Devils at that price point in the near future.
“Slightly out of my price range,” he said.
Ruben Amorim will oversee United’s final Premier League match of the season on Sunday evening when the Red Devils host Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
