Report: Crystal Palace eyeing exciting move to sign 'one of the most promising forwards in…

Crystal Palace are keeping a “close eye” on Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha, according to Rudy Galetti of TEAMtalk.

The 2024/25 season will forever be remembered by Crystal Palace fans, as they watched their club lift the first major trophy in their history. With a 1-0 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup, Palace not only secured their maiden piece of silverware in England, but qualified for Europa League football for next season, another first for the club.

Such honours are a testament to the work that Oliver Glasner has done since arriving at Selhurst Park in February 2024. In his first full season, the Austrian has taken Palace to unprecedented heights and unsurprisingly, the club already have an eye on the upcoming summer transfer window.

Now with a European competition to prepare for, incomings for the South London are expected even more so than they already were. Crystal Palace are already weighing up a number of potential deals and it would appear that they are keen to reinforce their striking ranks.

According to TEAMtalk, Emanuel Emegha has caught the eye of Crystal Palace, who are monitoring the 21-year-old after an impressive season with Strasbourg in Ligue 1. In his second season with the club, Emegha has blossomed into a brilliant forward and as such, many clubs have become aware of him. So much so, that the striker has been called "one of the most promising forwards in Europe."

No player has benefitted more from Glasner’s coaching than Jean-Philippe Mateta. The forward, who wasn’t much use under Roy Hodgson, has exploded under Glasner’s guidance and Mateta’s presence in the team, both as a finisher and a hold-up player, has been crucial in Palace’s system.

Mateta has been tracked by a number of teams, though Eddie Nketiah’s struggles for consistent form suggest that Palace may have pursued a striker in the summer anyway. In Emegha, the Eagles would be signing a striker that appears ready for the Premier League jump, while also having room to grow in the years to come. At 6'5" tall, Emegha could, in theory, perfectly emulate Mateta's role in Palace's tactical set-up.
