****JAYLEN WELLS** NEVER**played under David Riley, but as the former Washington State sharpshooter was going through the draft process last spring, he got to know the Cougar head basketball man who had just taken over after Kyle Smith left for Stanford. Riley went on to go 19-15/8-10 in an up-and-down first season, but Wells tells Cougfan.com that all of his interactions and impressions of Riley were extremely positive.
"He's a smart coach and he loves the game," Wells said. "That's the first thing I learned about him. And I feel he's really good at adapting to whatever he has.
"He's passionate. I went to a practice and I keep repeating it, just how passionate he was. But there was just a different energy in there throughout every coach. He was in there showing them how to do the drills. That's probably just how young he is and just how hungry he is."
