New details emerge after ex-NFL player arrested in human trafficking operation

New details have been released on what led to former NFL linebacker Adarius Taylor [being arrested](https://www.pennlive.com/sports/2025/05/former-nfl-player-arrested-on-child-abuse-charges.html) in Florida earlier this month.

According to [WPEC CBS 12](https://cbs12.com/news/local/former-nfl-player-allegedly-left-6-year-old-child-in-truck-to-visit-prostitute-nfl-tampa-bay-buccaneers-florida-atlantic-owls-football-polk-county-fool-around-find-out-monday-may-29-2025), Taylor was arrested after he allegedly tried to solicit an undercover police officer who was pretending to be a prostitute. He was arrested for solicitation and negligent child abuse.

The TV station reports that the child abuse charges came about because Adarius Taylor allegedly had his 6-year-old child in the car as he went to the location where he was going to meet the officer.

According to the report, deputies discovered Taylor’s child in his truck, and Taylor did not tell anyone that the child was in there.

"This guy here, you know, obviously he must have hit one too many people as a linebacker because his brain cells are scrambled,” Sheriff Grady Judd said of Taylor, according to WPEC.

He was released on bond, which was set at $6,000.

Adarius Taylor spent time with the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns across his seven-year NFL career.

He was known as Adarius Glanton up until 2018. He then changed his last name to Taylor to honor his late father.

Taylor started his college career at Eastern Arizona Community College, earning all-conference honors. He then transferred to Florida Atlantic to finish out his college career.

He earned a starting job at FAU in 2012 and was one of the stars of the defense in 2013, recording 75 tackles, including eight tackles for loss. He was named Honorable Mention All-Conference USA that season.

After finishing up his college career, Adarius Taylor went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft, before signing with the Carolina Panthers. He spent two seasons with the Panthers, before spending four seasons with the Bucs. Taylor then signed with the Browns in 2019 and returned to the Panthers in 2020 to finish out his NFL career.

Taylor’s best NFL season was in 2018 when he recorded 60 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and an interception for Tampa Bay.

While Taylor last played in the NFL in 2020, he did more recently play in the Canadian Football League.
