Sky Switzerland has confirmed a major news positive news on Florian Wirtz that Liverpool fans would love**.**
Over the last couple of weeks, Liverpool fan have been inundated by news about the club’s interest in Wirtz .
News about the Red’s interest in the German international accelerated after reports from Germany that his trip with his parents to the UK was not to meet with Manchester City as was widely reported, but with Liverpool instead.
Since then, there has been a lot of positive follow up reports linking Wirtz to Liverpool, despite strong interest from Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians had done the ground work on the 22-year-old and had reportedly obtained so measure of assurances for his parents, who also happen to be his representatives.
But the emergence of Liverpool’s instrest in the last couple of days have complicated thinga for the Bavarians.
According to a report on Friday, Bayern Munich are afraid of Liverpool’s interest in Wirtz.
“There is a bit of fear inside the club around Liverpool, because they didn’t think that the Reds would commit to the transfer fee, as it’s a lot of money,” BILD reporter Christian Falk noted.
Another report from David Ornstein emerged on Friday revealing that Wirtz favours a move to Liverpool over Bayern.
Writing for the Athletic, Ornstein reported:
“Liverpool have received a major boost in their pursuit of Florian Wirtz, with Bayern Munich believing the playmaker will not be joining them and is on track for a move to Anfield if he leaves Bayer Leverkusen this summer.”
And now, Sky reporter Sacha Tavolieri has provided even more update on Wirtz and Liverpool, revealing that the Reds will now finalise the deal in the coming days.
“As revealed in a world exclusive this Friday afternoon, Florian Wirtz has chosen Liverpool Football Club,” the journalist wrote.
“After making his decision in consultation with his loved ones and his partner, the German midfielder decided to become the new recruit of the Reds, who offered him a long-term contract worth up to 20 million euros gross per year.
“Liverpool are now in contact with Leverkusen to finalize a deal worth around €150 million this weekend. In the best-case scenario, the Reds hope to complete the deal as early as next week.”
However, it has to be noted that Reds would still need to come to an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen in other to seal the deal.
Manchester City pulled out of contention for the deal as they believe the transfer could potentially reach €300 million.
Bayer Leverkusen values him highly, and the potential £126m outlay expected in the deal would shatter Liverpool’s transfer record (previously £85m for Darwin Nunez).
But it remains to be seen if Liverpool would be able to chip this fee down.
