Sky Germany have provided fresh update on Liverpool’s reported interest in Florian Wirtz.
Over the last couple of weeks, Wirtz to Liverpool has been one of the most trending ews in football transfer circles.
The Reds have not even officially lifted their new Premier League crown and their transfer wheel is already in full swing.
Last week it was Jeremie Frimpong and his move to Liverpool.
This week, it’s been his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Wirtz.
News about the Red’s interest in the 22-year-old accelerated after reports from Germany that his trip with his parents to the UK was not to meet with Manchester City as was widely reported, but with Liverpool instead.
Since then, there has been a lot of positive follow up reports linking Wirtz to Liverpool, despite strong interest from Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians had done the ground work on the 22-year-old and had reportedly obtained some measure of assurances from his parents, who also happen to be his representatives.
But the emergence of Liverpool’s insterest in the last couple of days have complicated things for the Bavarians.
And now it is being reported that Liverpool are not just leading the race for the midfield star, they have reached an agreement with him over a move to Anfield this summer.
This is according to Sky Germany, who claim that the 22-year-old has agreed to join Arne Slot’s side.
“Wirtz is now close to a move to Liverpool FC,” the report stated.
“A record transfer worth between €130 million and €150 million has already been approved by the Reds, according to Sky Sport information.
“Wirtz reportedly personally committed to Liverpool a few hours ago.”
“However, the Reds have not yet made an offer to Leverkusen. One thing is certain, though, that Bayern will come away empty-handed,” the report added.
