Liverpool have made a formal offer for Florian Wirtz according to reliable tranfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
It’s been less than two weeks since Liverpool’s interest in Wirtz was first reported, but it appears as though the deal will be over the line in the next couple of days.
It was said that the Reds will be busy in this summer transfer window. However, not many Liverpool fans envisioned them moving ahead their current pace.
Last week, we exclusively reported that the club had agree a deal to sign Jeremie Frimpong. We also broke the news that he had passed the first part of his medical over the weekend, with the deal now in the final stages before official announcements.
And now, it is increasingly looking like Frimpong may be announced along with his Bayer Leverkusen teammate Wirtz.
Serveral reliable journalist, including David Ornstein reported on Friday that the 22-year-old favoured a move to Liverpool.
Sky Germany added another layer to the story, revealing that the Germany international has now agreed to a move to Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano has now added even more detail to the already positive news, by revealing that the Reds have now made a formal offer to sign th attacking midfielder.
“Liverpool have made formal approach to Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz,” Romano wrote on X.
“After initial green light from the player, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen are in talks over transfer fee/package.
“Liverpool want the deal to be done very soon, not a long saga — to avoid surprises.
The attacking midfielder, who has collected 29 caps for Germany, played an instrumental role in Leverkusen’s first-ever Bundesliga title in 2023-24, earning himself the league’s Player of the Season award.
He has just completed another outstanding season with 16 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.
Meanwhile, a report in Germany revealed that a conversation with Arne Slot was the tuning point in the deal.
