Suns Named Among Favorites to Land Nuggets' Star Forward in Offseason Trade

The Phoenix Suns enter the offseason with a ton of key decisions to make after yet another disappointing season.

Phoenix finished the season with an abysmal 36-46 record, failing to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign.

Of course, the Suns were expected to be a top team in the West this season due to their star trio of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal, along with having the NBA’s highest payroll.

Instead, the Suns failed to even come close to expectations and they are expected to make some major changes to their roster in the offseason as it is likely that they will move on from both Durant and Beal to rebuild around Booker.

Phoenix has already made some changes this offseason after firing head coach Mike Budenholzer as they now have to find a new head coach.

While that is the top priority right now for the Suns, they will also have to make some key decisions regarding their roster and one player from the Denver Nuggets has emerged as a potential trade target for them.

According to Bovada, the Suns have the eighth-best odds (+1400) to land Michael Porter Jr. via trade from the Nuggets in the offseason.

The Golden State Warriors are the favorite (+300) to land him and they are followed by the Chicago Bulls (+400) and Los Angeles Lakers (+600).

Porter Jr. had a great regular season for Denver but after suffering an injury early in the playoffs, he struggled shooting the ball.

Because of this and Denver’s second-round exit, they could look to retool their roster in the offseason and Porter Jr. has emerged as a potential trade candidate.

For the Suns, adding Porter Jr. would give them a great wing scorer, possibly replacing Durant in the lineup next to Booker.

Phoenix does have some role players that could entice the Nuggets due to their lack of depth and by adding Porter Jr., the Suns would pair another young star alongside Booker to build around for the future if they decide to blow up their roster this summer.
