Bayern Munich have held ‘renewed talks’ with Florian Wirtz’s entourage.
The Bavarian giants had been hoping to get back on track in their pursuit of the German international.
However, it seems that Liverpool, who also hold a keen interest in Wirtz, have built up considerable momentum in the transfer race.

Beyond sustainability, transfer opportunism has generally been the name of the game for the Merseysiders since Michael Edwards’ arrival at the club.
That guiding philosophy hasn’t changed following the former sporting director’s shift upstairs to a CEO of football role with Fenway Sports Group.
Indeed, Liverpool now seem prepared to commit to a potential record fee for the €150m-valued [£126.3m] footballer.
CF Bayern Insider’s Christian Falk now reports that the player is now leaning towards a switch to Arne Slot’s outfit this summer.
However, this is, of course, dependent on the Reds agreeing on a price tag with Bayer Leverkusen.

Where does Hans-Joachim Wirtz stand?
We understand that Hans-Joachim Wirtz (also the footballer’s agent) is aligned with his son on a prospective move to Liverpool.
With that blessing, Liverpool have now officially started negotiations with Leverkusen to sign their highly-rated attacking midfielder.
A coup of epic proportions for Liverpool
How things can shift in a few weeks!
It won’t have gone unnoticed that this had, at one stage, appeared a transfer destined to pan out in FC Bayern’s favour.
The Bundesliga champions had secured a verbal agreement with Wirtz. This had initially positioned the 22-year-old to join Vincent Kompany’s men this summer, or the next if Bayern couldn’t agree on a fee.
The club had been prepared to commit €100m [£83.9m] to the signing in the upcoming window.
However, it seems that Liverpool’s capacity to get closer to Bayer Leverkusen’s asking price – having also made a positive impression on Florian Wirtz – has put them firmly in the lead.
A potentially impressive deal, it has to be said, given prior links to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and Real Madrid.
