Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku rub salt in Man Utd wounds as Napoli lift title

It's been a week to forget for Manchester United and two former players have just made it worse. Goals from Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku were enough to confirm Napoli as league winners in Italy - their second Serie A title in two years.

The side, managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, entered the final league match of the season knowing three points would be enough to secure the title, irrespective of what second-placed Inter Milan did against Cesc Fabregas' Como side. After a cagey first 40 minutes, McTominay opened the scoring in emphatic fashion by steering home a stunning acrobatic effort.

It was a deserved lead for the home side, who put the cherry on top of their Scudetto-winning cake with a goal from marksman Romelu Lukaku midway through the second half. An untimely reminder, at least as far as United are concerned, that the grass is greener away from Old Trafford.

McTominay, having first joined United back in 2002, left to join Napoli in the summer transfer window, joining the Serie A team as part of a deal worth £25million. It came at the same time the Red Devils agreed a £50.5m move for midfielder Manuel Ugarte. Fast forward 12 months and it's clear who has had the better campaign.
