Suns Have Huge Roster Priority This Offseason: Report

The 2024-25 season was one to forget for the Phoenix Suns as it saw them miss the playoffs entirely. Despite having stars Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker on the roster, the Suns just couldn't keep up with the rest of the loaded Western Conference.

Phoenix now enters a crucial summer, and they will be looking to reshape the roster. There have been reports about the future of Durant in Phoenix, but it seems that the Suns could look to keep building around the stars.

But no matter what the team does with Durant, the Suns are reportedly looking into adding another center this offseason. NBA insider Jake Fischer reported the news.

"One roster rumble that has emerged from the desert: Sources say that Phoenix, whether or not Durant is ultimately dealt before training camp, will be prioritizing the addition of a starting-level center this offseason," Fischer wrote.

The Suns acquired center Nick Richards at the trade deadline in an attempt to push the roster forward, but the team still lacked a lot of cohesiveness. Due to the heavy CBA implications on the Suns' roster, Phoenix may be forced to move some pieces before it can create a competitive unit.

Phoenix is expected to be one of the more active teams across the NBA this offseason. The big question around the team is what the future holds for Durant, but this summer could also see them try to rid themselves of Beal's giant contract.

The Suns almost traded Beal at the trade deadline, but many teams were wary of taking him on. But with another full year off it, opposing teams could see his contract as a way to get massive cap space down the line.

Adding a legitimate center to the rotation could bring some stability to this group, but defense needs to be the first priority. Phoenix has been terrible on that side of the court over the past few seasons, but the center market could be very busy on all fronts this offseason.
