Eagles Trade Of Dallas Goedert Remains A Rumor Mill Oddity

When the Philadelphia Eagles agreed to a restructured deal with starting tight end Dallas Goedert, the organization shut the door on any potential trade that may have come for their star player.

That's logical.

Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, though is still speculating on a potential trade for the Eagles in the future, with Goedert as the key part of any agreement at this point.

"The Philadelphia Eagles shouldn't be in a hurry to move tight end Dallas Goedert," Sobleski wrote. "However, his production has dropped in three straight seasons, he turned 30 earlier this year, and he's not signed beyond this year. Injuries have played a role in the downturn of Goedert's production, but that doesn't exactly work in the favor of an aging veteran."

We're not sure B/R understands the ramifications of what Philly just did here.

So ...

Let's make this abundantly clear. Following their new agreement, the Eagles won't be making any plans on moving on from Goedert this offseason or during the 2025 campaign, either.

Despite the injury concerns that have plagued the South Dakota State product, Goedert is still an excellent dual-threat tight end. There are few players like him in the league, and the Eagles don't have an upgrade on the roster.

That makes any trade chatter from the media nothing more than an oddity.

There was a time for it. But that time has passed.

We think it wise and fair that the Eagles rumor-mongers on this idea ought to catch up with the times.
