The Carolina Panthers have re-signed former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver T.J. Luther after releasing him earlier in the month.
The Panthers have lost undrafted free agent wideout Moose Muhammad to an injury-designated release, opening up another roster spot for Luther.
Luther signed a futures contract at the end of 2024 with the Panthers after spending the year on the practice squad.
It's a crowded offseason wideout room for the Panthers that includes Adam Thielen, Xavier Legette and rookie Tetairoa McMillan, who Carolina selected No. 8 overall in this year's NFL Draft.
Luther was signed by the Steelers during the preseason last year and appeared in two preseason games for Pittsburgh in 2024 before being released in the final round of roster cuts heading into the regular season.
He was then signed to the Green Bay Packers' practice squad for a month before being released by that team in mid-October.
The 25-year-old played collegiately at Wofford from 2018-2020 before transferring to Garner-Webb for 2021-2022, where he was a key in seven games as a starter and was also the team's kickoff returner. He also ended the 2021 season with 23 receptions for 384 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 16.7 yards per catch. He also posted seven kickoff returns for 179 yards.
In 2022, his final collegiate season, he posted 55 catches for 1,035 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games with two starts.
He has never appeared in a regular season NFL game.
