Liverpool Could Pursue Man City And Chelsea Transfer Targets If They Miss Out On Wirtz

Liverpool have identified two potential alternatives if they fail to secure the services of Florian Wirtz, according to reports.

The Reds are no firm favourites to sign the Bayer Leverkusen star but there are still doubts over whether the German will make the switch to Anfield.

If Wirtz remains at Leverkusen or decides to move elsewhere, Rousing the Kop claim that the Merseysiders may target either Morgan Gibbs-White or Morgan Rogers.

Gibbs-White is also reportedly an option for Manchester City, who have stepped away from the battle to purchase Wirtz.

The Nottingham Forest playmaker is unlikely to be available on the cheap, with suggestions that his asking price is between £70m and £100m.

Rogers is also on Liverpool’s radar

In addition to Gibbs-White, it is believed that the Reds hold a strong interest in another English attacking midfielder.

Rogers has been strong>linked with a move to Merseyside before, in addition to Chelsea, but his £90m price tag would make him just as expensive as Gibbs-White.

However, as the Villa star is four years younger, it could be argued that he would be the better investment out of the two.

What is the latest on Wirtz?

The 21-year-old is believed to favour a move to Anfield, with Bayern Munich having been informed about his preference.

Of course, Wirtz is not only one involved in the decision. Liverpool will still have to find an agreement with Leverkusen over the transfer fee and negotiations are taking place as we speak.

With the German international’s valuation set at €150m (£126m), he is set to cost a lot more than either Gibbs-White or Rogers. Many will feel though that he is worth the money considering his undoubted talent.
