Man Utd's predicted XI (3-4-3)
Goalkeeper: MILINKOVIC-SAVIC
United have reportedly been scouring the market for goalkeepers as Andre Onana comes to the end of another error-strewn season. It is understood that the Cameroon international wants to stay at Old Trafford, but the decision could be taken out of his hands entirely if INEOS step up their pursuit of 6ft 8in Torino giant Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, having 'made contact' with his camp.
Defence: Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez
In Leny Yoro, Matthijs De Ligt and Lisandro Martinez, Amorim already has access to three defenders who are perfectly suited to their respective roles in a back-three. Next season, expect Harry Maguire to put pressure on De Ligt for the central role, and Ayden Heaven to make a push for the left-sided spot after his impressive senior breakthrough.
Midfield: VANDERSON, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dorgu
Wing-backs are a vital part of Amorim's system, and United have picked up a specialist left-sided player in Patrick Dorgu. Reports suggest that Old Trafford chiefs have also been scouting AS Monaco star Vanderson, who could compete with Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui on the right, unless one is sold.
Amorim may be without Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park if the prospect of raking in big money for the pair proves too tempting for INEOS to pass up. New squad players would be needed in that case, but in Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, United already have two players with starting pedigree. Casemiro has been heavily linked with a move elsewhere, although his upturn in form could persuade bosses to let him see out his contract.
Attack: Amad, DELAP, CUNHA
Up top is where United have been found badly wanting this season, and where a large proportion of their transfer budget is expected to be spent. The sale of left-winger Garnacho could fund part of the spree.
Matheus Cunha is the player many expect to replace him as one of the No. 10s behind the central striker, with talks for the £62.5m-rated Wolves star in their 'final stages'. Amad Diallo has been bright enough this campaign to retain his spot on the right, and there is almost certain to be another new face through the middle ahead of a summer in which Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee could both be sold.
Liam Delap, who has a £30m release clause in his Ipswich Town contract, is thought to be the prime target, but Newcastle United, Chelsea and others are also hot on his heels.
