Bruno Fernandes could possibly leave Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United's 2024/2025 season is over after losing to Tottenham in the Europa League on Wednesday evening. Ruben Amorim's men were unable to get the job done and, now, pressure will be on them to improve.
A big summer now awaits them. At least three players will be signed, with much of their business coming from player sales. If United are going to be better, they have to hand Amorim the necessary tools.
The list of players linked with a move to Old Trafford is rapidly increasing. So with that in mind, The Manchester Evening News has taken a closer look at the latest transfer news and gossip from Old Trafford;
Fernandes deadline
Al-Hilal have set Bruno Fernandes a deadline of next week to decide whether or not wants to depart United and secure a move to Saudi Arabia.
The Daily Mail has reported that the club wants an answer from the Portuguese by the end of the month. It's been claimed that a bid worth £100million has been offered to United with a contract worth £700,000-a-week offered to Fernandes.
Fernandes isn't a player that United particularly want to sell, but the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham has placed financial constraints on the club.
The Manchester Evening News says: "If United let Fernandes go, there will be uproar from some sections of the fanbase. The midfielder has been their best player all season and is the sort of player they need.
"Despite being non-existent in the final in Bilbao, Fernandes has, at times, single-handedly kept United's season alive. However, if he decides he wants the move, they will have no choice but to accept it.
"For United, it will give them time to seek out an improvement. But their past business hasn't provided any proof that they can replace him properly for the new season."
Delap delay outlined
Liam Delap is one striker United are showing interest in and, with a £30million release clause, he's a tempting option. However, if any deal isn't wrapped up before the start of next month, United could be forced to wait.
Delap has been named in the England Under-21s squad by Lee Carsley to play in their UEFA U21 European Championships in Slovakia. The Young Lions meet up soon, before a final 23-man squad will be confirmed.
Their first game takes place on June 12 and the final, should they make it that far, takes place on June 28. That means United will have to wait until the end of next month to get the deal over the line.
The Manchester Evening News says: "This would be a disaster. If United are going to get their fans back on side, getting the majority of their business completed early in the window is pivotal.
If Fernandes does decide to move on, United simply can't waste time waiting to get their priority deals concluded. It can't happen.
"There is time for the Delap move to get finalised between now and then. Talks have been held already. It's down to United to make sure it doesn't get to a position where they have to wait."
