Report: Anthony Gordon's reaction to his Newcastle future after Arsenal interest

Anthony Gordon has frequently been linked with a move away from Newcastle United of late.

Gordon has endured a mixed campaign for Newcastle United, struggling with injury and failing to reach the level he did last season.

There may be reasons for that. The winger returned to pre-season late after being involved in the England squad who reached the Euro 2024 final, albeit he hardly featured throughout their campaign.

Gordon has also suffered injuries at club level this season, so his haul of nine goals and seven assists in 41 games is by no means a disaster.

Still, his future has again been up for debate. Arsenal and Chelsea want to sign Gordon, but a fresh update has now emerged.

How Anthony Gordon feels about his Newcastle United future

According to Caught Offside, both London giants are considering whether to move for the 24-year-old.

Arsenal are still debating whether the forward’s price tag is genuinely achievable for them this summer. Reports have claimed Newcastle value Gordon at £100million.

Liverpool are also understood to be interested but the report adds that Gordon is “content” at St James’ Park.

In fact, his happiness on Tyneside could even reduce the chance of him leaving this summer.

However, if Newcastle do opt to put him on the market, it’s also claimed that a bidding war between the interested parties could be on the cards.

Does Anthony Gordon support Liverpool?

The player has actually been close to leaving Newcastle before despite only joining them in January 2023.

Liverpool almost signed Gordon in 2024 as Newcastle needed to raise funds in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

However, the Magpies eventually sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh instead, which meant they could keep a hold of the former Everton star.

Much has been made about the team the player supports, too. Despite progressing through Everton’s youth ranks, Gordon has confirmed he comes from a family of Liverpool fans.
