What Ruud van Nistelrooy said about Leicester City Psr charges and casual chats with hierarchy

What Ruud van Nistelrooy knows about Leicester City’s PSR charges he learned from reading reports, with no details given internally.

City face a potential points deduction after they received three charges for alleged breaches of Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) this week, relating to their 2023-24 accounts.

The matter could have a significant bearing on City’s Championship campaign next term, but it’s not been explained to van Nistelrooy how the club may be affected.

It casts further doubt over the Dutchman’s future, with no formal talks held with the hierarchy about strategies for transfers and next season in the month since City were relegated.

Asked if he’d been given any indication about this week’s PSR charges and how they may affect the club going forward, van Nistelrooy replied: “No, I’ve read also on that news.”

Asked to clarify that all the information he has on the matter is from what he’s read and has not come internally, he said that that was “correct”.

He did say that he has had casual conversations with chairman Aiyawatt ‘Top’ Srivaddhanaprabha and director of football Jon Rudkin over the past few weeks, but no discussions over the future.

But van Nistelrooy said he did not feel it was disrespectful that he had not been engaged in conversations over his future.

He added: “Yes, we can speak, say hello and good morning, and have conversations, yes.

“No, I don’t (think it’s disrespectful to not discuss the future). I feel that I’m doing what I should do and that is my responsibility.

“I moved to Leicester to work here to do the best possible for the football club. I will continue to do so. Of course you’re working with others and how they deal with it is up to them.”
