Everton must now look to make the right appointment
The Academy Director role at Everton is pivotal, shaping the club’s future by nurturing young talent to feed into the first team or generate transfer revenue, crucial for financial sustainability under Premier League regulations.
Prosser, departing in June, has overseen the Toffees’ youth system since 2022, leveraging his experience from Wolves and the Professional Game Academy Audit Company to enhance player development pathways.
His exit leaves a gap in a role that demands expertise in scouting, coaching and strategic planning to maintain Everton’s reputation for producing talents like Anthony Gordon.
To replace him, the Merseyside club will likely prioritise candidates with proven academy management experience, ideally from top-tier clubs or those familiar with Category One academies.
The recruitment process, already underway, will seek someone who aligns with the club’s new football leadership structure, emphasising data-driven recruitment and a progressive youth philosophy.
Everton will aim for a swift appointment to ensure continuity, targeting a visionary leader who can blend tactical development with commercial foresight, sustaining the club’s competitive edge and long-term stability.
