Celtic star Daizen Maeda is not expected to face any immediate injury issues should he move to Aston Villa, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert has assessed the Japan international’s fitness record in recent seasons, as that’s something any club looking to sign him would as well.

He has been absent from the matchday squad for just three league games this season for Celtic.

Maeda should not have issues clearing his medical

TBR reported on 1 May that Villa were among the clubs keeping tabs on him ahead of the summer transfer window.

It’s understood that they can secure his services for a £25million fee.

Ahead of a transfer, Maeda will need to clear his medical and that is not expected to be an issue for the Japan international.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “Wouldn’t expect any injury-related issues here.

“He should pass his medical without any issues.

“*He’s been injury free all season and while there might be some adaptation to a new league, it does not put him at a high risk of injury.*“

Aston Villa must look to sign Maeda this summer

Maeda would be a solid signing for Villa due to his exceptional form and versatility, which align perfectly with Unai Emery’s high-intensity, attacking system.

The 27-year-old Celtic forward has scored 33 goals and provided 12 assists in 50 appearances this season, demonstrating his clinical edge and creativity.

His pace, work rate, and ability to play across the front line, centrally or wide, offer Villa tactical flexibility, especially as they target Champions League consolidation.

Maeda’s likely £20-25million valuation is cost-effective for a player of his calibre, particularly given his experience in European competitions and proven goal-scoring record in Scotland.

His relentless pressing and adaptability would complement Villa’s dynamic style, enhancing their attacking depth alongside players like Ollie Watkins.

Emery certainly will be looking for a Maeda-esque player if the club are unable to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis.
