Chelsea have “started negotiations” to buy Brighton forward Joao Pedro, according to reports in the Brazilian media.
The Blues are keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the Club World Cup and Globo Esporte claim that they have “signalled” their willingness to pay €60m (£50m) for the player. It is fair to say that supporters on X are not happy about their team’s decision to pursue Pedro:

Brighton’s asking price for Pedro
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Seagulls are hoping to receive around €70m (£60m), which means that Chelsea’s opening bid will be substantially below what the striker’s club are demanding.
Globo Esporte report that talks are expected to ramp up “next week” following the final game of the season against Nottingham Forest, when it will become clearer how much money the Blues will have to spend this summer.
Chelsea are not the only club interested in the Brazilian
Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with Pedro in recent days. However, the Gunners are said to be focused on recruiting Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig, while the Reds are currently in talks to purchase Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for what could be a British record fee.
It means that Chelsea may have a clear run in their attempts to secure the Brighton player’s signature. We shall have to wait and see how negotiations progress.
