Commenting further on the nature of Palace’s impressive performance at Wembley Stadium, Muñoz said: “I believe it was an exceptional job we did. Thanks to all these beautiful people \[the fans\], I think they deserved it more than anyone.
“We are very happy to win the first title in the history of Crystal Palace. We came here with a goal, and today it was fulfilled. From the heart, I want to thank all the people who supported us, who believed in us. To our families who were always there; to our teammates, who fought and battled: those who started, those who came on, and those who were on the bench.
“This is family work. It’s more than a team, it’s a beautiful family, and this is the reward for humble, transparent work, for day-to-day effort, and today it showed.
“We were fighting and battling for this, and it wasn’t just anyone we beat – we beat a giant, Manchester City, a team that has won everything, so I think it’s even more satisfying, it brings more happiness and more joy.
“We wrote our names in that golden book, and now we have to keep working for what’s next.”
Lerma smiled: “We congratulate every member of this team, the fans, the staff, the coaches, an endless list of people I’d like to name, but it would take too long.
“Now we must enjoy the moment. God has given us everything, and now it’s glory and honour.”
