Matheus Cunha starts & £14m player misses out: Wolves predicted lineup vs Brentford - opinion

Wolves round off their 2024/25 Premier League campaign with a home clash against Brentford on Sunday.

When Gary O’Neil was in charge, supporters would have your snapped hands off to survive in the top flight. Wolves were marooned in the bottom three before Vitor Pereira took over and were in danger of being relegated.

Fortunately, the Portuguese boss has transformed the club from top to bottom, and ahead of the final day, can finish as high as 14th by beating European hopefuls Brentford.

Although Wolves have lost their last three in the competition, Pereira will want to go out with a bang and give some of his stars an excellent send-off.

Matheus Cunha, who is set to join Manchester United, is one individual playing his final game at Molineux, but there are several others.

Wolves predicted lineup vs Brentford

In the loss to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night, Pereira bemoaned Wolves’ lack of quality depth and sent a subtle message to Fosun about improving his squad in the transfer window.

Pereira left Cunha on the bench, for instance, to give the likes of Pablo Sarabia and Goncalo Guedes an opportunity in attack, but they blew it.

Cunha was introduced in the second period in an attempt to salvage a point, though it wasn’t enough, as Wolves tasted a 4-2 defeat.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Now, in his final game at Molineux, the 25-year-old is nailed on to start as he aims to end his Molineux career with a flourish.

Meanwhile, with Pereira confirming that Strand Larsen won’t feature on Sunday after struggling with an injury recently, Guedes could get a final chance to lead the line with Pablo Sarabia continuing in his number 10 role.

Unfortunately, in what could be his final game for the club, £14 million signing Hwang Hee-chan is likely to miss out on the starting lineup.

So, with all that said, here’s how Wolves could lineup against the Bees.

A lot of farewells at Molineux

On Sunday, Cunha will wave goodbye to supporters after a terrific couple of years at the club.

Fellow forward Guedes could do the same alongside Hwang.

Tommy Doyle, who is suffering from an injury, could also have already played his final minutes for Wolves amid interest from Championship clubs.

Meanwhile, with teams showing an interest in Rayan Ait-Nouri, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if this was his final league game.

Out-of-contract Nelson Semedo is another, having already filmed his farewell video in case he does leave.
