Scott McTominay is a league winner after he scored in Napoli’s title-winning game on Friday.
The Scottish international has been magnificent over the past 10 months for the Serie A side, and Friday night saw Scott McTominay in the spotlight as Napoli secured their title.
After a brilliant season, the Manchester United academy graduate scored for Napoli in the title-sealing win, with an overhead kick which sent the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium into celebration.
There were Scottish flags in the crowd, which demonstrated that McTominay is loved over in Naples. After the league was secured, McTominay was awarded the Serie A MVP award.
Not only did he step up in a key moment, but McTominay enjoyed a sensational campaign for Napoli, racking up 12 goals over the course of the campaign.
These performances have left Ineos’ decision to sell McTominay to fund Manuel Ugarte looking ridiculous.

Speaking after the game, which saw Napoli lift the Serie A title, McTominay spoke to DAZN as quoted by Area Napoli, about the fans in Naples, admitting they give him something he never got at United.
“It’s really incredible all of this! The fans have given me everything this season, it’s a truly indescribable joy.”
McTominay could not hold back his smile, but the decision to sell him is one we cannot help but regret, considering how vital he has been for Antonio Conte, while also being huge for Erik ten Hag during the 2023/24 season.
It also shows that McTominay is enjoying a love over in Italy which he never quite got in Manchester.
Scott McTominay never had the full Manchester United fan support
Seeing how adored McTominay is over at Napoli cannot help but put a smile on our face, with pride over how good the midfielder has been performing.
However, it is frustrating that this kind of adoration never found McTominay at Old Trafford, with many fans convinced we were above the Scottish international.
This meant McTominay was always splitting the crowd, with half loving him, half not fussed. However, looking back and McTominay deserves huge praise for his performances during the club’s worst period.
He always gave everything, and even last season played a substantial role for Ten Hag with 10 goals, most being winners.
If only fans had appreciated McTominay when he was at the club, because right now he would be key for Amorim’s system with his athleticism and goals.
