Newcastle United's English midfielder #36 Sean Longstaff (R) celebrates with Newcastle United's English striker #09 Callum Wilson (L)
Newcastle United have interested suitors for two of their stars who have uncertain futures going into the summer window.
And that's from just one rival alone! Indeed, Chronicle Live understands that newly promoted Leeds United have had the names of both Callum Wilson and Sean Longstaff pushed their way ahead of the summer trading period. Elland Road chiefs have stayed tight-lipped when approached by note book on the Wilson story.
But the proven Premier League goalscorer could be the ideal signing for the Yorkshire club. Longstaff, too, would bring top-flight experience and guile to the table after seeing his role at St James' Park reduced to a squad player in recent months.
Head coach Eddie Howe is not against holding on to both stars with Wilson eyeing a new contract and Longstaff still having a year left on his current deal. The North Shields lad is also attracting interest from Everton and Man United.
Howe reiterated that Longstaff had a year left on his current deal when asked about his future two weeks ago and suggested that it was up to him to fight to earn another one. However, at 27 the player's advisors know there are other deals out there that reflect his age and experience.
Joe White returns to the club after successful loan stint
The 22-year-old was sent out on loan to MK Dons this season and told to get games under his belt. And that's exactly what he did in League Two by playing 35 times and scoring six goals.
The 6ft 2in midfielder is still admired by Howe and he will potentially take White on pre-season this summer. Howe said that the "pathway" to the first-team is still very much open.
Despite talk of White's contract expiring this summer, the midfielder has two years left on his current arrangement, protecting both the player and the club.
Newcastle CEO Darren Eales gets the beers in
The Newcastle CEO wants a big atmosphere on Sunday but is also keen to thank fans for their loyal support at St James' Park. The offer of not one, but two free beers or soft drinks is up for grabs ahead of the 4pm kick off on Sunday against Everton.
Eales said: "We’re pleased to once again raise a glass - or two - to supporters this weekend as we bring the curtain down on a season that will be fondly remembered in Newcastle United history.
"Our fans always play their part and the atmosphere at St. James’ Park is simply unrivalled. We encourage everyone to arrive early, take advantage of the drinks offer and back the team until the very final whistle of the season."
Supporters are encouraged to arrive early and soak up the atmosphere, with turnstiles opening at 2pm, ahead of the 4pm kick-off. Two complimentary drinks tokens will be offered to those passing through turnstiles between 2-3pm, remaining valid until 3:30pm.
Tokens can be redeemed for a free draught or bottled beer / cider (subject to location) or a bottled soft drink. The offer is available across the concourse, Platinum Club and Bar 1892, with separate arrangements in place for guests attending hospitality suites.
