Liverpool are making early moves in the summer transfer window — and this one could be big. The Reds are in talks with Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen for a deal involving German star Florian Wirtz.
But it’s not just a simple money move. Liverpool could send a player the other way as part of the deal, which would reduce the cost and give both clubs something to cheer about.
The 22-year-old playmaker has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Merseyside club, according to multiple sources.
That means all that’s left is for Liverpool and Leverkusen to settle on the final details — and that could include a player swap.
“There is a feeling that [Leverkusen] will accept a lower base figure,” reported Paul Joyce (via the Times), adding that add-ons could make up the rest of the fee.
Wirtz, who recently travelled to the UK with his parents, is said to be fully convinced about joining the Reds. He turned down interest from Bayern Munich and other European clubs.

Liverpool and Leverkusen in talks over swap deal for Florian Wirtz?
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Liverpool are offering more than just money.
Leverkusen are open to a player-plus-cash deal, with their eyes on a new goalkeeper, centre-back, and a replacement for Wirtz.
Reds boss Arne Slot seems to have played a key role. As per kicker, the Dutch coach had a conversation with Wirtz that helped tip the scales.
Slot’s attacking vision and style are believed to have impressed the young star.
If the deal goes through, it would be one of the summer’s biggest stories — and a huge statement from Liverpool under Slot.
