Where Kevin De Bruyne could play next season
City have decided to let De Bruyne leave the Etihad Stadium once his contract expires at the end of the season.
There had been some talk about De Bruyne playing for another English top-flight side, with the likes of Aston Villa and Liverpool having been linked.
However, De Bruyne has now decided that he won’t play for another Premier League club, according to reports.
City fans have welcomed the prospect of De Bruyne leaving the Premier League instead of having to face him next season.
De Bruyne has admitted he feels he still has more to give, and would certainly be able to do a job for one of City’s rivals.
However, it looks as though he won’t be coming up against Pep Guardiola’s side any time soon – unless it’s in European competition.
Napoli have shown interest in De Bruyne and, with Serie A being slower-paced than the Premier League, he wouldn’t have to exert himself at the same level as he has been doing in England.
In recent years, De Bruyne has struggled a lot with injuries and, if he wants to continue playing into his late thirties, then a change of leagues would be a good shout.
De Bruyne has also been linked with MLS side Chicago Fire.
