Another boost for Liverpool as Bayern Munich president provides update on Florian Wirtz

Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has admitted that they now expect Florian Wirtz to join Liverpool this summer.

That’s [according to journalist Florian Plettenberg](https://x.com/Plettigoal/status/1926221153472741593), who cover comments from the Bayern Munich president today.

“Max Eberl informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool,” he is quoted as saying on the matter today.

Wirtz had been expected to join Bayern from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, with all indications from the player and his entourage that he wanted the move.

However, that has changed over the course of the last two weeks after Wirtz, and his entourage made an impromptu trip to England to meet with Liverpool.

He was seemingly convinced by the Reds at that point after meeting with manager Arne Slot and they have raced to the front of the queue for him since. Reports over the last 24 hours have then progressed that further, with it explained that Wirtz has informed Bayern he intends to join Liverpool.

Hainer has now confirmed as much, reporting that he and the German giants are now expecting the midfielder to move to Anfield.

Of course, there is still plenty left to do for that to happen, with Liverpool yet to find an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen on a deal that is likely to cost €140m in transfer fees alone.

Bayern, though, now appear to be out of the race and are accepting of that fact if Hainer’s comment are to be believed.
