Benjamin Sesko RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig
Despite being linked with multiple strikers, we have a feeling that Arsenal are getting ready to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
The centre-forward has a variable release clause in his contract and the Gunners are currently in talks with Leipzig to see how they can structure the payments. According to Sky Sports Germany, Leipzig’s sporting director Marcel Schafer has been having conversations with Arsenal’s new sporting director.
Leipzig are open to accepting instalments and there’s even hope that the Bundesliga side might agree to a lower fixed sum. Benjamin Sesko has been one of the priority targets for Arsenal and if they can agree terms with Leipzig, the Gunners are not going to look elsewhere.
Is Benjamin Sesko set to become an Arsenal player, or do the Gunners keep searching?
Benjamin Sesko was supposed to join Arsenal last summer but the forward shocked everyone and signed a new contract with RB Leipzig.
However, he is surely going to join a new club in the summer and like last year, Sesko is eager to join Arsenal and play under Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal continue to be linked with other centre-forwards as well but their number one target Alexander Isak has a €150 million price tag and the North London side cannot afford to pay that much.
The likes of Victor Osimhen and Gyokeres will be available for less than €80 million but there are other big clubs fighting for them. Chelsea, Man United, Liverpool, PSG and several others have been linked with these two strikers.
In such a scenario, Arsenal won’t mind paying €80 million for a talent like Benjamin Sesko and if they can offload Havertz and Gabriel Jesus for the right price then the management might have to pay only €20-25 million out of their own pockets.
Arsenal will try their best to bring down the transfer price but even if RB Leipzig agree to a part-payment deal over the next three to four years, the Gunners should agree and finish their hunt.
They will undoubtedly get better options in the market but there will be a split transfer window in the summer which is why most players want to secure their future before the Club World Cup kicks off. Benjamin Sesko wants to play for Arsenal but if the Gunners ponder too much, the 21-year-old won’t mind committing his future elsewhere.
